Sildenafil Citrate rapid dissolve tablets are custom-made tablets that melt on your tongue. The fast-dissolve form starts working quicker than regular tablets, giving many men more flexibility.

Clinical Information

Use as directed by your healthcare provider. Place one tablet on your tongue and allow it to dissolve completely before swallowing. If you miss a dose that was planned before sexual activity, you may take it when remembered but never take more than one dose in 24 hours. Do not double up on doses.

Sildenafil blocks an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5). By blocking PDE5, the medicine lets a natural chemical called nitric oxide keep blood vessels in the penis relaxed. This allows more blood to enter during sexual stimulation, leading to an erection. You may start to feel the effect in about 15–30 minutes after the tablet dissolves, and it can last 4–6 hours. It will not cause an erection without sexual arousal.

Do not use if you take medicines called nitrates (for chest pain) or riociguat (for pulmonary hypertension); the mix can cause dangerous drops in blood pressure. Do not use if you have severe heart or liver problems, very low blood pressure, recent stroke or heart attack, or certain inherited eye diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa. Avoid if you are allergic to sildenafil or any tablet ingredients. Not for use in women or anyone under 18.

Serious interaction with nitrates like nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, or isosorbide mononitrate (risk of severe low blood pressure). May interact with alpha-blockers (e.g., tamsulosin), causing dizziness—your doctor may need to adjust doses. Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, and clarithromycin can raise sildenafil levels and side effects; dose changes may be needed. Blood pressure medicines, alcohol, and grapefruit or grapefruit juice can increase dizziness or lower blood pressure further. Tell your provider about all prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal products, especially St. John’s wort and ginkgo.

Very common (more than 1 in 10): headache. Common (1–10 in 100): flushing, stuffy or runny nose, indigestion, mild dizziness, vision changes such as blue tint or blurred sight. Uncommon (1–10 in 1,000): rash, eye irritation, tiredness, dry mouth. Rare but serious: sudden loss of vision or hearing, chest pain, shortness of breath, or an erection lasting longer than 4 hours (priapism). Most mild side effects fade within a few hours. Seek medical help right away for serious or lasting problems.

Store at room temperature 68–77°F (20–25°C) in the original tightly closed container. Keep tablets dry and protect from excess heat, moisture, and direct light. Do not store in bathroom or kitchen where humidity is high. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Dispose of unused or expired tablets through a pharmacy take-back program or mix with coffee grounds, seal in a plastic bag, and place in household trash.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:How quickly will the rapid dissolve tablet work?

A:Most men begin to feel effects in about 15–30 minutes after the tablet fully melts. Sexual stimulation is still needed for an erection.

Q:Can I split or chew the tablet?

A:No. Place the whole tablet on your tongue and let it dissolve. Splitting or chewing can change how fast the medicine is absorbed.

Q:What happens if I drink alcohol after taking sildenafil?

A:Small amounts may be okay, but heavy drinking can lower blood pressure too much and make it harder to get an erection. Limit alcohol to one or two drinks, or avoid it.

Q:Is it safe to take sildenafil with my blood pressure medicine?

A:Some blood pressure drugs, especially alpha-blockers, can add to the drop in blood pressure. Tell your doctor all medicines you take so they can adjust doses or timing.

Q:Can I use this every day?

A:Use only as prescribed. Many men take it only when needed before sex. Never take more than one dose in 24 hours unless your provider gives different instructions.

Q:What should I do if I get an erection that won’t go away?

A:An erection lasting longer than 4 hours (priapism) is a medical emergency. Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 right away to prevent lasting damage.

Q:How do I store the tablets when traveling?

A:Keep them in their original container, inside a cool, dry place like a carry-on bag. Avoid leaving them in a hot car or direct sunlight.

Quad-Mix

This compounded injectable medication (often called “Quad-Mix”) contains four active drugs that work together to improve erectile function in adult men. When injected into the side of the penis before sexual activity, the medicine relaxes smooth muscle, widens blood vessels, and reduces outflow so more blood stays in the erectile tissue. A very small volume is used, and the effect starts within about 5–20 minutes and can last 30–90 minutes. Because it is a sterile compound prepared for each patient, strength ratios and vial size may vary based on your prescriber’s order.
