Clinical Information
Evidence-based details for healthcare providers
Use exactly as your prescriber directs. Shake the suspension as instructed, then measure it with an oral syringe. A responsible adult should check the bottle and give the medicine. Do not use a kitchen spoon or repeat another product's directions. Ask what to do after a missed dose or vomiting. Do not stop clonidine suddenly; the prescriber should guide any change.
Clonidine stimulates alpha-2 receptors in the brain, reducing certain nerve signals. These actions can affect attention, alertness, heart rate, and blood pressure. Its effects depend on the formulation and exposure, which is why changing products requires the prescriber's guidance.
Do not use if your child has had an allergic reaction to clonidine or an ingredient in the suspension. Tell the prescriber about fainting, a slow heartbeat, low blood pressure, heart rhythm problems, or kidney disease. These conditions may change the monitoring or treatment plan.
Sleep medicines, sedating antihistamines, opioids, and other calming medicines can add to drowsiness. Beta blockers and some heart or blood pressure medicines can further slow the pulse or lower blood pressure. Give the prescriber a full list before starting.
Sleepiness, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, or tiredness can occur. Report symptoms that affect daily activities. Fainting, trouble breathing, or difficulty waking the child needs urgent care. Stopping suddenly may cause a sharp blood pressure rise, headache, or agitation.
Follow the storage directions and beyond-use date on your prescription label. Keep the medicine in its labeled container, out of reach of children and pets. Ask the pharmacist about disposal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is clonidine prescribed for children?
Prescribers may use clonidine for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, tics, or selected sleep concerns. The reason should be clear on your child's care plan. Regular follow-up helps assess symptoms, blood pressure, and heart rate.
Can I stop my child's clonidine suddenly?
Do not stop it abruptly or make changes on your own. Sudden withdrawal can raise blood pressure and cause other symptoms. Ask the prescriber for a plan, including what to do if illness prevents taking it.
Is compounded clonidine the same as Onyda XR?
No. Onyda XR is a manufactured extended-release suspension. A compounded liquid can have a different concentration and release pattern. Do not copy its directions or exchange products without the prescriber and pharmacist checking them.
Is this FDA-approved?
No. This compounded medicine is prepared for one patient on a prescription. It is not FDA-approved. FDA does not review it for safety or effectiveness before it is made. Separately, Onyda XR is FDA-approved for ADHD in children six and older. Javadin oral solution is approved for high blood pressure in adults. Your prescriber decides when compounding is appropriate.

Hydrochlorothiazide Suspension
Hydrochlorothiazide oral suspension is a prescription medicine used to help lower high blood pressure and reduce fluid swelling (edema). This liquid form may be helpful for children or others who have trouble swallowing tablets. It works by helping the kidneys remove extra salt and water through the urine. Use only for the condition your prescriber is treating and follow the dosing plan given.

Greer's Goo
This compounded ointment, often called “Greer's Goo,” combines an antifungal (nystatin), a mild steroid (hydrocortisone 1%), and a skin-protecting barrier (zinc oxide 20%). It is designed for inflamed, irritated, or yeast-infected skin folds such as diaper areas. The mixture fights yeast, calms redness and itching, and shields the skin from moisture to help it heal.
